Scholarships...

In honor of her years of dedication to ensure that homeschoolers can achieve their dreams, the Washington Homeschool Organization proudly announces the Fifth Annual Janice M. Hedin Scholarship "For the Homeschoolers of Washington".

It's money for College!

If your homeschooled student intends to go to college, they could win up to $1,000.

The Janice Hedin Scholarship is for members of WHO that have filed a Declaration of Intent to Homeschool and are graduating in 2012.
We recognize that many homeschoolers utilize Running Start in high school, so providing the Declaration of Intent for the year prior to Running Start is just fine.

The scholarship understands that every homeschool is unique.
Just submit your parent-made homeschool transcript or other homeschool record.

It's easy to apply:
The student needs to submit a brief essay on the benefits of homeschooling.
The parents submit the student's transcript or homeschool record.
The family completes a very short application form.

Check it out here.

Zumbatomic Classes
A fun alternative to standard PE classes

Looking for a fun, economical alternative to the standard PE classes for homeschoolers?

I am a homeschooling mom who has an opportunity to offer Zumbatomic classes at the Firstenburg Community Center. Zumbatomic is a Latin based dance/exercise class. Kids love to crank up the music, shake, wiggle and have a blast with their friends. So why not get fit while they're at it! As a certified Zumba and Zumbatomic instructor I will teach a fun Zumba dance.

This Zumba program has an unique formula that is psychologically and physiologically relevant for kids ages 4 - 12. Exceptions may be made for older kids.

Classes will be held on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 11:10 to roughly 12p.

Class fees are either $17.00 for four weeks or $5.00 drop in fee.

In order for the class to appear in the catalog I must have at least 6 interested kids.

Please contact me, Candace Crandall, if you are seriously interested in signing your kids up.

Hey fellow homeschoolers! My name is Joshua Toothaker and I am 11. My family and I are starting a board/card game club for homeschoolers between the ages of 10 and 16. (This is more of a guideline than a hard and fast age limit.) We will be playing Macau, Smallworld, Dominion, Settlers of Catan, and other educational games. We would love to learn your favorite game as well.
Entry is a one-time fee of $5 (for wear and tear on our games).

This will be held at Guardian Games on Mondays starting at 12:30. My father and I will teach the games to those who do not know how to play. If there is sufficient interest, we will be running multiple games at once.
